Hello everyone,

I'm a HI fan and own a beautiful HI sirupati. I've want to get the most durable kurki HI makes. I've been thinking about the M-43 because I see it has pins in the handle. Does HI make a kurki with a full tang handle (meaning the size and width of the handle unlike the tapered handles I see on most) like they do their bowie knife?

Yup...email Yangdu and let her know you want one.

been using HI khukuri's since the summer of 2001. Got a used 15" Ang Khola Blem from Uncle bill as my first blade. Handle was cracked in 2 or 3 places, nothing some black JB weld couldn't fix. Never had any problems with the knife or handle. All but the Chiruwa WWII and M43's I used to have were rat tail tangs and they have all held up great. :) Though that doesn't stop me from wanting another M43 or Chiruwa WWII. ;)

Good luck in your search.

Gotta remember too that an HI "rat tail" tang is a huge piece of metal more accurately described as a hidden tang. It's no small, thin extension...it's stout. There are pics on here if you care to search.

Yes it is quite stout, and will last anyone a lifetime. Photos are taken by Norm of his museum model.

After seeing how my Ang Khola has survived with flying colors all the extreme heavy use l've put it through, I don't see that hidden tang ever breaking.

I shattered the wooden handle on a Windlass kukri but the tang and blade survived perfectly intact. The tang on the Windlass isn't even close to being as stout as the H.I. khukuri tangs.

Im not very versed as to the "internals" of the HI Kuks, my I have been using the absolute hell out of my month old WWII, and its holding up like a anvil.
