Is there a glue or other sealant product to prevent corrosion under scales on carbon steel?

Got my hands on an Esee 5 with no powder coat. No visible rust, and I plan to keep it well oiled, but I'm just worried about moisture under the scales.

Is there a go to product for this type of thing?

I wouldn't worry about it. Carbon fiber scales are generally glued on and pretty well impervious to moisture.

Well I plan on swapping out the scales, that's why I ask. When I put the new scales on I'd like to form some sort of waterproof seal between the tang and the scale.

Cerakote the entire handle all the way to the end of the ricasso. I had a 1095 knife done this way. The cost at a local shop was $30 and it turned out nice. Also, I don't need to mess with keeping the edge of the blank or lanyard hole clean.

Epoxy will fill small gaps, superglue won't. I epoxy a lot of my hidden tang moras and I will take a full tang knife's scales off, epoxy them liberally, then fasten them back down. You'd be surprised at the corrosion that can occur in hidden places. When I pulled one full tang mora apart, it was surprising how much rust there was, and there was no way to keep it out or check on it. Sanded it off, filled it with epoxy, no more worries. Try to get 30 min, the 5 minute stuff works almost too fast and gets really hot.

Make sure you like those scales, once they're epoxied, it's a major pain to remove them.

No glue needed. Many manufacturers oil the tang before putting the scales on. I do the same ... or Froglube works too, just hard to clean after a long time.
