I like the way it feels, the handle shape, and the blade shape. Good belly and enough of a point. Plus the size is just right. The steel isn't. I'd like something tough and will actually hold an edge. Are their any other sources of this exact style but in good steel?

I think that's quite possibly one of the most common styles of hunters available. You can literally find them almost anywhere in a design maybe 95% close to that one. I can't name any one model offhand, but you may wish to check out A.G. Russell's web site, and poke around the internet looking for Fallkniven products. There are a lot of custom makers who make something similar, as well, the Loveless pattern hunters are widely copied.

I am not making bolsters right now because I like to shape the whole handle and not have a flat bolster in my way
