Is there a limit on transactions or dollar amount that can be made for a gold member?

I notice we have some people with hundreds of transactions in a very short period of time. Where is the line between dealer and gold member?

In this instance, a member (city74) has a forsale thread almost every day selling gold or silver? Can he flip gold and silver here, in hundreds of transactions with a gold membership?

Seems to me he is an obvious flipper. Says he pays his mortgage from what he makes here. Also refers to buyers as customers.

Of course all of this doesn't matter since he went full racist meltdown.
 
I think a bigger issue is blatant racism and bigotry not being an instant ban.

I interpreted that post as an insult to the other posters, rather as promoting racism. I issued a custom 6-month infraction for it.
 
Hmmm.. I'd say using homophobic slurs and degrading interracial marrage would get a bit more than that. Frankly it's unsettling it hasn't.
 
Even if I had interpreted it as racism, it would not have resulted in auto-ban. "Racism" carries a 30-point infraction, not 50. As it was, he got a 20-point infraction.
 
So politics, religion, racism, bigotry, intolerance, and name calling are only a 20-point infraction?

Yet here I am, getting 10 points for showing my distaste towards some brand-fanboys:rolleyes:

It would be nice if more than one mod would chime in here. I've seen Esav ban people for similar posts...
 
He insulted other members and used vulgarity long before he went down the path of unprovoked bigotry, politics, and religion. He in multiple posts supported segregation. That is far further than simply insulting other members IMO. He is still talking about how he believes in his views. If he had his way there are multiple members here who would not be allowed to be with their significant other or have children with said person.

Not to mention the point of this thread.
 
There is no legitimate justification for anything short of banning an outright bigot who shares his bigotry on this forum - period.

He crossed many lines and continues to be flamboyant about his racist views.

I've had some hefty infractions for WAY WAY WAY less than this guy. I'm confused. :confused:
 
He's continuing to press his point about being against interracial marriage. All whilst pretending to take the high-road. :rolleyes:
 
At the risk of beating an infracted horse...

This is a community, mostly virtual, but also with real world interactions among members. You guys (Spark and his moderators) have the ability to determine who gets to be part of the community. We don't always have the luxury of deciding with whom we want to be associated in all aspects of our lives. I do have the ability to determine who my friends are, who will be a guest in my home, who will work for me, etc. I see your ability to make these decisions in the same vein. This particular person has shown himself to be a racist, a homophobe, and a troll. I would like to know why y'all would permit a person like that to continue to be a guest in your virtual home? Telling someone you know to be an ugly bigot that he's welcome, as long as he keeps his bigotry to himself, does not reflect well on the standards of BFC.

But back to the original question, is there a well defined line between Gold Member who buys and sells knives and Dealer/Flipper. Seems like it has been crossed before....or is it something ala Supreme Court Justice Potter...

I mean they guy has opened 25 or so sales threads in the last couple months. Seems like he is dealing something.

Or is it OK because he is not dealing knives mostly?
 
Most of the exchange rules and all of the memberships are based on knives or knife-related products.
I'm not certain that we've ever had someone who had a significant business on BF selling items with no relationship to knives. I'm not certain there is a written rule on it. At this point, I'm guessing the exchange mods will be looking at that and trying to figure out the correct answer.
 
The precious metals seems very concerning. That is not gear or things. It can't be confused for a hobbyist or collector just going through a bunch of stuff to find a desired item. It is pure money making. Makes sense to see the other things he buys and sells in a similar light.
