Is there a place for makers to post general information about themselves?

If one goes to a knifemaker's website, the first screen one comes to is usually an "introduction" page. On it the maker usually states how, why and/or when the maker started making knives and a description of the maker's objectives - the kind of knives made - whether or not custom orders are accepted, etc.

I have been looking for a forum of this type on this site and, if one exists, have not found it yet. Is there one and I just have not found it?? If there isn't one, should there be??

I'm refering to new makers/sellers who do not have a website using this forum as a place to introduce themselves to the knife world - a place for communications to start.

But, thanks for the reply.

you can leave them a visitors message at their profile page. check out your own profile page to see what i mean.

There is also a sticky in the custom forum that was created especially for maker announcements.

Bastid - I found the sticky in Custom & Handmade Knives. I also found the Knife Maker Specific Forums which required a phone call to get a thread set up. What I'm hoping to do is upgrade my membership to Knifemaker so I can sell in the Knife Maker's For Sale area and leave a link in the knife-for-sale thread back to a thread with info about me. I'm a part-time maker and really don't want my own website. Which of the 2 places mentioned in the first two sentences would be the best place to offer information about me and be consistant with the intent of BladeForums in general??

Jacque,

That worked out OK.
Once the storm is over in Ky, you might want to give Spark a call on setting up your own forum here also.

I am going to move this thread to service and support.

Seriously, you may want to ask Spark (Keven) about you own forum. Also if you have pictures of knives you have made and sold you may wish to post those pictures in the Gallery and or Custom Knife Forum here.

On a personal basis :D, do you make multiblades (aka slipjoints)? :)

looks like we're in a 3-way conversation. I will look into the gallery - and, right now, I only do fixed blades. Folders are on the list, especially the old time friction joints.

How do you do that(the DBA thing)?

[ url=your URL ]your name for the link

[ url=http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6440318#post6440318 ]Eagon Leather & Knives

Just remove the spaces inside the square brackets by the URL.
