Is there a quality 5" folder somewhere?

Camillus Mad Maxx for production. Maybe also Cold steel.

For a custom Darrel Ralph, or Ferret.

I think you're gonna have a bunch of replies saying Mad Maxx. Not to mention Glockman99 with his fave, Cold Steel Vaquero Grande (isn't that a meal at Taco Bell ;)). Oh yes, there's also the Cold Steel Gunsite although I'm not too crazy about that one.

My fave is still the REKAT SIFU (approx. 5.5 inch blade) which is the knife pic second down on the upper left corner of your screen. Unfortunately, they're not around anymore but I'm sure you can find the odd retailer who still has them in stock, or someone at BladesForum willing to part with theirs.

Addendum - MSCHWOEB managed to hit his submit button before me. See, the Carnac in me told you someone would say Mad Maxx! ;)

Oops. I forgot the folding SOG Pentagon Elite II which is a big hit with SOG fans. Thank goodness Knife11 remembered!

Sorry Manowar! I got beat twice to the post -- once with the Mad Maxx, and the SOG. Gotta be quick! At least you were able to second my vote for the SIFU. ;)

No matter what is said the Cold steel 5" Voyager
is the best price value knife in this size range.

The Camillus Maxx is a screaming value in a hi
end 5" folder for what you get. :D

Yes, there IS the Cold Steel Vaquero Grande folding sword/saw, but its' blade is a full 6 inches, not the smallish 5 inch blade that you are looking for.:D.

Mad Maxx - you really just cannot realize just how big it is untill you hold it!! I almost felt like I was missing armor and a shield!!

my fav big folders are:

*ralph maxx w/a 5.5" dagger blade

*pat crawfords new perfigo, has a 5" blade i think, i really like this knife, carries very well for its size, and fits my hand like a glove.

*cammilus cuda maxx 5.5 - imho, really a lot better/more reliable/thinner/lighter knife than a SIFU, has a MUCH better lock (ie rolling lock vs frame lock, no comparison, frame lock wins hands down) - i sold my sifu when i had carried/used my maxx for a while, blue handles take some getting use to, but all in all, i much prefer the maxx to the sifu. and if the rolling lock malfunctions, as they sometimes will, who can/will fix it for you???

So do you have to change your name Greg now that you dont use a Sifu?;)

The Cuda Maxx is a really pretty knife, but the pentagon II will leave you feeling ten feet tall. Giant blade and rapid action are what makes this knife a must own. I will admit the pentagon is kinda ugly, but I think that is becauce it is designed for action not fashion. I bought mine for $78, you go buy one too.

The Camillus Maxx is a great knife. It has great lock up and its thin profile makes it pretty easy to carry for a big knife. The Sifu still looks the best and is the most comfortable in hand. If price is an issue, very hard to beat the Cold Steel Voyagers.

It's interesting to me that SIFU1A has lost his Sifu and gained a Maxx. The MAxx is a mad mac daddy knife in the parlance of today's youth (as I understand it).

I only got to see a Sifu once and it was big, but the Maxx seems both bigger and more elegant at the same time (if that can be said of a pocket sword). The materials and construction certainly seem first rate.

Not sure what I'd use it for, but I'd like to have a Mad MAxx.
