Is there a Sprint List by Model?

I am slowly coming to the realization that the Delica/Mantra might be my ideal folding lighter carry. Due to this, I am interested about what alloys the platform came equipped with. A list of this would be perfect.

I have had a Manbug in HAP40 with a diamond knot fob for a 4 finger grip, still too small (hard to open).

Currently, I have an Urban in K390, and I am still finding it a bit small when opening the blade.

I am thinking about a Mantra 1 or a sprint Delica. That being said I believe I want more edge retention than HAP40 offers, bit that may just be my knife knut side talking, since I don't plan on heavy extended cutting with it...

What are my options, folks?

What steel do you like then? Just search that vs. Delica and see what comes close.

I’ve been looking in to getting a mantra also. I don’t really care for flippers but love that Spyderco still offers the hole as an option for their flippers. The Mantra seems pretty perfect to me spec wise. You might find Spyderco’s M4 to offer more edge retention even though Hap40 is often compared to M4. Ive used their HAP40, but not enough to give you a personal opinion.

Just don’t snatch up a deal on a Mantra off the exchange before I can get my hands on it!

I absolutely love the Orange S90V Native LW from CS and would recommend it to anyone. I never thought I’d like the Native and I’m not a fan of FRN in general, but it’s probably one of my favorite Spydies to date.

You're safe for now, since I have one knife lined up, and one on the chopping block (know anyone that wants a Busse Park Ranger w/ Sheath?).

I had a Mantra 2, and I liked it, but didn't love it. I feel the alternative opening method should seal the deal.

I think I just talked myself into a Mantra 1, and I may end up removing the flipper tab later on down the line. I have also been eyeing the PB washer swap for the Mantra. This will likely be purchased and shelved in case I happen to have any cupping issues. Though I don't suspect that I will have any crop up, I would like to have a repair ready to go.

I found the Native to be just off from fitting my hand perfectly. Due to this, it is one of those "so close but yet so far" types of handles that I can't get into without tinkering. On top of that, the Mantra and Delica carry thinner in pocket, which is nice for a lighter carry option (since I pair it with a fixed blade).

I totally understand that. I have pretty medium sized hands (maybe borderline large in finger length, but relatively slim fingers) so the Native ends up being the perfect handle length for me. If it was any shorter, I think it would be extremely awkward for sure. A “finger choil only” knife which I know I wouldn’t like (except for a dragonfly.)

I back pocket carry and I also think the Native is kind of the baseline for me in size pretty much no matter what I wear. I really don’t notice it in the back pocket at all so the difference in pocket between that and a Delica is basically negligible for me personally I guess.

I am also dying to pick up another Sage 5. I would have really regretted getting rid of my original if it didn’t have a relatively bad action. I pretty much never crave a S30V Spyderco, but it’s such a good design that I’m ok with it. A Sage probably isn’t the answer for you because of the steel and handle length, but I do think the Sage 5 is one of Spydercos better product offering currently. I think the biggest turnoff to be is the wire clip. I’m probably in the vast minority who don’t care for deep carry clips.

My glove size is XL width, Large length. iirc, the back of the front choil lands about 1/4 the way onto the trailing edge of my middle finger. It had been a while since I have handled it, but once I did, I was able to check it off my list.

I am a Butcher by trade, so ergonomics tend to be a quick yes or no for me. Once I make up my mind, I am happy with it. I like knives, and one quick decision that can save me some coin is a handle that doesn't quite fit.

The Mantra and Delica both fit, and I guess I will sit back and wait for a deal to pop up on the exchange.

Something felt off about the Mantra 1 so I never got it, even though I learned it was basically a Ti Delica flipper. The Mantra 3 with CF and compression lock has caught me by surprise, it's definitely on my watch list.

The only reason I am not interested in that version, is the blade steel.

If they wanted something more inert than M4, they could have used LC200N. This would have bumped up the edge retention, and undoubtedly caught more attention. There are a lot of people looking for models in that alloy, and this would have been a good EDC option for many folks.
