The entire first production run of quite a few early models, especially collaborations with knifemakers, were numbered, so the 827 simply means it was part of a run of at least that many, and almost certainly more. However, I can't honestly recall any model that would have both a Spyderco bug logo on the blade and such a number. The other possibility is that you're mistaking a 0 for an 8 and the number is 027, which would be a Spyderco collectors club number which might appear on a newer model with the bug logo on the blade. However, either way, in all cases I can think of the number was on the left side of the blade. Final possibility is that the number was added aftermarket. Pictures would definitely help.
