That's what Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard Knives addresses. All 3 companies are related with SR & SY for those with smaller budgets.

Scrap Yard Knives, as well as Swamp Rat Knives ARE spin off of Busse. Yes, they ARE directly related.

If you are not happy with those, then you might want to look at Ranger knives.

What size of the Busse do you like? Obviously SRKW and SYKW are the first choices, (more SR style-wise) but if choppers are your liking, Rangers are an alternative for sure, and readily available direct from Justin.

Ranger knives. At $100 or less, it's a solid prybar style knife.

No surprise here, SR and SY are very good options to this. You wont be sacrificing much as they are both tough as hell. But I too want to reccomend Ranger knives. They are also tough as hell, perform great, and all 4 companies are backed by the best warranties in the knife business. Also check out Rat Cutlery, same deal here.

Instead of dropping your sights on the knife you want, why not raise your sights on the money you can muster?

The Becker line was a decent knife as well, the BK9 is a good knife but you have to tart it up a bit with a resharpening and new handles.

Swamp Rats and Scrap Yards- can someone post links to their websites and also to online shops that carry them?

The recent SAR 5 from Busse came out at a decent price though unfortunately they got snapped up in a couple of minutes. The gamewarden is a reasonably priced small knife.
I agree with others that Swamprat knives are a good value to the consumer for a high quality Busse style knife.
