What are the chances that I will ever find a stainless GEC in the #72 locking pattern? It seems as though the have either never made one or at least haven't made one in a few years. I've looked on ebay, the forums, and knife store sites online, and have never come across one. Should I give this search up now?

Sorry, I was wrong. Here are the production totals for the GEC branded 72 (in 440C). Overall I'd say your odds of finding one now might be slim, but I expect this to be made again and you'll probably get a chance at that time...

AHHHH!!!!!!! ....so you're saying there's a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks! I just picked up my 42 in American Elk and it is awesome. My perfect knife would be a stainless 72 in elk (preferably locking). I will not rest until I find what I need. Time to find out how to change my signature in the forums to advertise what I am looking for. Thanks!!

The stainless 72 is one of my favourites. They do come up for sale from time to time. It would be great to see a new run of them.
