I am hooked on the aesthetics of the tradtional, natural handled slipjoint, but I like the utility of implements in addition to the knife - particularly scissors. Other than SAKs and scout knives, is there such a thing?

Yes, Case makes a 6233RSC with scissors.

There are several that I can remember. Here is another one that my daughter carries. A Case XX mop peanut that I got for her several Christmas' ago.

Thanks,I find the scales and bolster to be too thin for the size of the blades though. I'm too afraid to use it.

I know what you mean. These were quite delicate knives an not made for heavy use. The fact that they have survived this long does suggest that they may be more robust then we think.

Mine was one of the imfamous warehouse finds. It has an engraving on the other side..."Genuine Antique Ivory". I've always wondered if it was taken apart and reworked. Then again, I look at those pearls you have and their still in great shape without bolsters, so maybe they knew something that I don't.

I have an often carried Buck Lancer with scissors instead of the usual coping blade.

Nice little knife about the size of a peanut maybe a little shorter. Only a tad wider than the 2 bladed Lancer.

I was looking at the lower pictured pearl knife, and the main blade looks like it may have been used more than we may think.

I think you are correct in that these knives may be a bit more solid than we may think. On some of your other wonderfull pics, some of th bolsterless stag, some others of your bolsterless pearl, there are a number of blades that are well used looking. Those old Shefield cutlers must have known how to maximize the most of every kind of material they used. Plus really good liners.

Here's a set of Buck Lancers with scissors, sorry the scissors are folded. Minus jigged bone model..

There's one Old Timer model with scissors, the 106OT. They show up occationally on eBay, and NIB examples sell sky-high.
