Is there a trick to installing Casey Lynch clips?

Got a brand new Casey Lynch spyderco deep carry clip, and it doesn't look like the screws will fit in the hole it has for installing. It almost seems like I'd have to bend the clip to a ridiculous angle just to get the screws in. Is this intentional?
