Is there a trick to this or what?

Picked up a Buckcote Crosslock Solitare the other day, partially serrated that appears to still have the factory edge. Been wanting to try a Buckote model as well as a chisel grind so this seemed like a good deal especially for $25.00.

Anyway it feels sharp but I can't seem to cut diddly squat with it. I'm right handed and I guess it's the chisel grind cause unless I change hands even slicing paper is awkward and the result is poor. Is this just the nature of the beast? Am I wrong in expecting this to cut like all my other blades with a bevel on both sides? TIA

Brought it to work this morning and made around 75 cuts through 1/8" and 1/4" corrugated cardboard. By the end it seemed to be slicing easier and cleaner, at least with the plain portion of the blade. I'm gonna keep after it over the next few days and see how it ends up.
