Is there a way to block specific members from PM or emailing you?

It hasn't worked that way in the past, perhaps it does now.... Adding them to your ignore list previously just meant that you had to manually override to see their forum posts, but they could still contact you directly.

The only reason I can think of for doing that would be harrassment. If that is the case, report the PMs and let the mods deal with it.

Dealing with Troublesome Users

Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?

If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'. There are several ways to do this:

Through your User Control Panel: User CP, Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List. Then, type their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

What if I see something offensive?

You will find 'Report' links in many places throughout the board. These links allow you to alert the board staff to anything which you find to be offensive, objectionable or illegal.

So I added a user to my ignore list and still got an an email from him. This has always been my experience in the past as well. The only effect of adding them to my ignore list as I stated above is that their forum posts are now hidden by a message that says "this user is on your ignore list" or some such. BTW my reason for wanting to add them to my ignore list is because of their constant lowball offers to my trade and sale threads.

Helotone, my email has a button to delete and also a button to mark as spam. Mark someone as spam one time and you won't get email from them again.

Thanks, Esav. You make a very good point. My only worry is that if I do that my spam filter might think that all BF emails are spam.

Only the emails from that individual. You can always ask that person to stop contacting you, be firm and direct.

One of my e-mail providers offers a specific block. I believe its in the settings under that persons e-mail message. I've had to do it before and it works very well.

Its a useful tool for e-mail lists, the person may not be conversing with you, but they are offensive, bingo, blocked. :)

Another member and I did a little experiment with the ignore list and PM's a few months ago.

You will not get any notice at all if an ignored person sends you a PM.
I don't know about email, but it looks like those still come through based on your recent findings. The good news is unless you respond to them I don't think they can see your actual email address. That way they hopefully can't follow you off Bladeforums if they are being a real pest.

Good luck.
