Is there a way to hide forum sections?

I noticed on the mobile version of the page I could hide (minimize) forum sections I wasn't interested in.

Is there a way to do this same thing on the desktop version?
I understand that change is inevitable and that things take time to work out.... but I have to take a break between sections due to all the scrolling.

So I did some fooling around with the different themes available and found that the Flat Awesome + (Beta) does what I need it to do.
