Is there a way to know where a machete is made?

Are all cold steel machetes made in South Africa? When they made them in China(or was it Taiwan) I found the edges to be better. Back then I only bought two small machetes. Bought a ton before and after and they are from Africa. Great machetes but I would like more from China. Does cold steel still make any there?
If so how do I know which ones are made in China? I appreciate any insight you can provide.
Thank you

I checked the website but didn't see anything regarding country of origin.

It appears that all the CS machetes are once again being made in Africa. knifecenter.com gives country of origin info for most of their stuff, and all the CS machetes I clicked on were listed as South Africa.

i had this crazy idea or think i read it here.....it was on the Internet so it had to be true routine, right.....:).......cold steel here in america was importing these machetes from africa and then doing the finishing sharpening these machetes here or some of them anyways.....how far off base am i?

scrappy, no problem.

jbmonkey, I do remember reading about that somewhere too. I think it may have been in relation to the gladius machete, specifically, but I don't recall for sure.

I hope they don't sharpen em here. I have a gladias and it edge isn't much sharper than a hammer :)
My last few cs machetes were dull and chipped but they sharpen really easy so I don't mind.

yeah that sparked my memory a bit, think you are right on that. thanks.

My Thai Machete was out of South Africa too. Came dull as hell which sucks because I do not have the means to sharpen such a large blade.

^just buy a mill file. it will get it sharp enough easily and cheaply. plenty of videos on how to use it if ya don't know how.....

IIRC, the factory in China that made them burned down, so all the production was moved to South Africa. I've had good luck from both sources.
