Is there a way to retrieve PMs that have been deleted / or left by both members?

When a member deletes a PM, it goes into the trash.

It seems like when both members who are having a conversation via PM, delete or leave the conversation it is no longer visible in trash.

Is there a way to get the PMs that both members have left?
 
The only thing I can think of, is if the other member has not deleted the conversation, they can add a message and all messages should come up. If you both have left the conversation, I don't know, but while I delete quickly I don't think that is the norm.
