Is there a way to rough up G-10?

I have two Benchmade 710s. The 710 is one of my favorite designs and I love just about everything about it. That being said, there are two aspects of the design I do not like.

The first is the ineffective jimping. Honestly, this seems like a pretty simple fix though. Deepening the jimping using a file or something like that is what I'm thinking.

The second issue is the more pressing one to me. The G-10 is way too smooth. I like the coarse to very coarse texture you get on many Spydercos, Swamp Rat Rat Trap, and the Cold Steel Recon 1 folders.

How can I get the texture of the G-10 on the 710s more like the knives I listed above? I'm not opposed to getting new scales made but I'd prefer keeping the ones that are on there now.

Low grit sandpaper should do the job by low I mean like 120-200.
Also if you can get your hands on a dremel use it instead of a file much more precise, cleaner, and faster than a file.

To get the texture like that on the Spydercos etc. you will have to get new scales made. File working the G-10 will probably be the easiest fix but that will obviously give you a different texture than you want. Sand paper of any grit is just going smoothe the G-10 out but will give a more scratched look the lower you go on the grits. I would personaly go for bead blasting over sanding.

Well said Haze...I have experimented with both ways and found bead blasting by far the most effective when working with G-10!
I have sanded G-10 with 180 grit paper and while it didn't make it any smoother it wasn't "roughing" it up either.
I have blasted some BM 710 scales with my plastic beads and it did a great job at roughing up the texture of the G-10....
