Is there a way to smooth out a rough pull on a folder?

The Queen knife I posted earlier has a pretty rough pull. It is not an overly heavy pull
but rough almost a real gritty feel to it. I've cleaned it and opened and shut it probably 50 times
with no improvement. Anything else I can do/ Thanks Bob

You might have some shavings or grit in there from production. Flush it. Blow it out with compressed air. Oil. Try that cycle a few times...?
I defer to the expert(s) who will hopefully come along soon.

I read "kroil oil" will clean stuff out of a knife you thought was already clean.... I've been curious about it but it's not cheap... I just bought Quick Release which was also highly recommended for traditional knives and am quite happy with it !

Keep cleaning and use lots of oil. I use mineral oil and flood the joint with it while working it back and forth. Sometimes you can feel that grit break down, release, and work it’s way out.

50 times may sound like a lot but it may take more. Sometimes I’ll just start carrying and using the knife instead of worrying about it. I think riding around in the pocket and using the knife helps as well. I’ve had plenty that never felt truly broken in and real smooth until after a few months of carrying and use.

That and the old wear and tear. if its gritty, the repeat opening and closing will eventually use the grit to smooth itself out.

Try toothpaste cycling it then flush out ,re oil

I've had a few knives spit out steel shavings over time. One 23 with a really tough pull. I was working it, snd all of a sudden it froze half way open. Then it spit out a steel sliver.

I have a cam tang whaler, that if I let the joint dry out and open and close it, it will bind up. I am 100% sure there is a metal bit stuck in there. The tang has a groove worked into it. I've tried everything. Flushes, scrubbing with bristles and soap, oil, air conpressor, you name it.

I've been carrying it for well over a year now.

Still happens.

I just add a drop of oil every few weeks. One thing I like less about cam tangs, is I find they don't spit out the gritt/etc as well as a square tang will.
