Is there an easy way to finish damascus blades?

I've used the search function and come up with some ideas on obtaining high definition results on damascus blades.

However, it occurred to me there might just be a simpler way to get acceptable results taking a simpler path.

Any ideas you may have on this will be most appreciated!

If you don't want the "definition" just sand it out, perhaps polish, oil and use. But why use Damascus if you don't want to see what's there? Frank

Rob Thomas Method for his damascus. Finish grind to 400 grit with a fresh belt. Etch in 50/50 ferric chloride/water for 10 min.

Oh, I want to see it! Just hope to get there more easily than seems to be necessary!

Ferric Chloride is available in different forms/strengths, I imagine. It's available at Radio Shack, and I've also found it online http://www.micromark.com/FERRIC-CHLORIDE-ETCHANT-16-OZ,8350.html.

Do you know what strength solution is correct, or should I just experiment with it?

try 3 to 1 F.C. with distilled water. If the etch looks pitty go to 4 to 1 or 5 to 1
Radio Shacks F.C. works well at 3 to 1
