I'm far from easily offended and you should hear some of the language that comes out my mouth sometimes , but I'm getting a bit tired of the language used in thread titles on the Wine and Cheese forum and similar .
I don't have a problem what goes on there , I'm not interested but don't want to stop other peoples fun so I'm not trying to be a " crusader ".
But here is my gripe , I use the New Posts feature up near the top of the page to catch up on " Whats New " , its a great way to keep up to date with threads your involved in or finding new ones that catch your attention .
But it bugs me to read extremely bad language as I scroll through the new posts .
Is there a way of blocking those forums which tolerate that language so they don't appear , just like the ignore feature is used to block posts from an annoying member ?

I'm not going to lose sleep over it if I cant , just thought I'd ask .

Well said and good question  There is public talk and theres is private talk and the thread titles are in the public side of things. They are getting more rank. Brace yourself now Ken, we are likely to get our own Wine & Cheese thread

I like using New Posts just as and for the same reasons as you do.

I agree, this is a perfectly reasonable suggestion. I would love it if I could scroll through the New Posts without reading anything posted in the Political Arena. As Ken says, I don't want to ruin anyone's fun, and if I had that option I would use it.

The platinum PG membership does not allow any of threads to appear anywhere. You can't go there even if you wanted to. That's the only way I know of to censor unwanted threads.

There's probably a setting for those sections not to pop in the new posts thread.

There's probably no setting for individual users not to see particular sub forums.

Start a poll in tech support and name the offensive forums and see what you get for votes.

I also agree that the thread titles should be policed -

The forum has been described as family friendly many times, but if the thread titles are popping up to the top, and in your activity feed that is not good.

I don't think that is putting a throttle on the goings on in the more adult oriented forums, but would allow the forum to be much more "underage friendly".

Just another opinion, your money back if not completely satisfied.

Interesting question.

A couple of suggestions until this can be addressed and or changed by the powers that be.

1. Subscribe to threads that you are involved with or have an interest in. You'll get a notification when new posts pop up. (I've read a thread or two where people are having issues with this, still couldn't hurt to subscribe) You can also click on your profile to view your activity to see if there are any new posts in threads you've posted in.

2. If you do want to see new threads from various forums don't click the New Posts or What's New tabs. Instead, while you are logged in, go to the actual Bladeforums home page (not the Forum Home tab). Go to or type this link into your browser.http://www.bladeforums.com/ The home page will line up all the newest post in chronological order right down the center and will exclude threads from both Whine & Cheese and PC. For me there's an added bonus as it's easier on the eyes to view it this way.

I can completely understand that. I like W&C, but as r8shell said, I don't want to ruin someone else's fun (by accident, at least. ;) ).

This is a great suggestion. Not sure it works with political though :(

Ken:

I honestly can't remember ever clicking on the "What's New" tab prior to reading your OP. I've always clicked on the 3 of the other main tabs and navigated to the various sub-forums I typically visit.

After reading your thread, I decided to click on the "What's New" tab. FYI: I can read everything that's posted; I believe in every single sub-forum, except the PC.

FWIW: I do have the BF PG Platinum membership. Truthfully, it's really not set up any differently than the regular Platinum membership, with the exception of the PC. It's no big deal to me, because the cost was the same, & I still make my own choices what I want read, and which area's I want to visit. If I had it to do over again, I would've just purchased the Platinum, but at the time, I thought that the vile, offensive & incredibly stupid W&C comments would be blocked.

You inquiry did enlighten me to the fact, why you posted this OP. After I clicked on the "What's New" tab, I scrolled down & read one sentence (typed by one of BF's own Mod's posted in the W&C); he's one of the only people I'm unable to block/ignore. Turns out his comment was directly related to a thread in the GBU, and not knife related. He posted vulgar and offensive language, that if a kid were to read, his parents would definitely find offensive... :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

For a forum that advertises themselves as being family friendly, this definitely seems to be an area of concern...so I can definitely appreciate your concerns. Hopefully BF's can hire a Tech savvy person and correct this.

Good luck!

More complaining about mods huh? You don't have to be here. The mods here do a good job.

I thought W&C and PC were excluded from New Posts at one point. I seem to remember there being a rule at one time about keeping titles clean when they did show up, but then it no longer being an issue. Maybe it got undone in an update or maybe I'm misremembering?

Hey look, KALAMA is trolling with his opinion again! Never would have expected that.

KELAMA, you are NOT in W&C. Outside W&C you can be infracted for insulting other members. Even though you're not naming names or calling out anybody specifically (not that you need to), you are basically insulting anyone and everyone that might happen to post there.

Everybody knows your opinion by now. You've run it into the ground with a dead horse and beaten it into horse puree. You also have, as I pointed out the other day, 20 active infraction points for your trolling behavior. But maybe you didn't see that because you have me on ignore since you don't like it when you get called out on your BS.

I do agree that there's a problem with the forum software. It occurs to me though that this is the Internet, and a company that designs Internet forums would probably have email. Perhaps you can email them and let them know that there is this issue and in the future this may be rectified.

He got 10 more points from frank yesterday for trolling and complaining as usual.

Wow, that whole thread is a trainwreck. Some of the posters that show up in these types of threads are reminding me of Bender in "The Breakfast Club". Just don't know when to stop. You mess with the bull...

If BFC thread titles are the worst thing an unmonitored youth finds on the internet I think the parents, who do not monitor their kid on the internet, should count their lucky stars. Seriously. What happened to parents who give a crap and know what their kids are doing?

It would be a nice feature to have the ability to hide forums you do not want to see. Not sure if this is possible with the current software, but it would be nice.
I totally get that.

What I don't get is ripping on the mods, continually- whom are not paid, when you don't get the result you want?
How about reporting the offending thread and explain your position?

Really, I am curious on this.
