Is there any greater feeling than having your mother ask you for knife advice?

Mom called me the other day, wanting a knife. (Main wishes: Cheap and quite small -- for opening packages, etc...) That was kind of awesome since she's asked me about knives approximately the same number of times I've asked her about drapes.
So I ordered a Kershaw Chive. I own one and think it would fit the bill nicely. It can handle most domestic cutting tasks and won't take up too much real estate in her pockets.

But there's always the chance she won't like it. Anyone have any other suggestions, just in case, for a similar knife?

Spyderco ladybug or the small Grasshopper is a great knife. Cannot go wrong if the Chive does not win her over. You are a good son indeed. I gave my mom a purple Ladybug a while back. She likes it and uses it for mail, tag removal, and the ocassional runaway thread. ;)

I am sure the feeling is on par with my wife asking for a knife after 10yrs of marriage. She liked my old BM Leopard Cub so much, she took my new one.

My dad asked me the same thing. I got him a kershaw chive just like u did... he loves it and carries it daily now.

Speaking from person experience, Leftoverdj???

I second any of the Spyderco bug series. I think it fits all your specs and women do seem to find them "cute"....
