Is There Any Help for Me?..............Stoopid Moment

Couple of days ago my EDC camo Millie had a violent collision with the tiled mudroom floor as it fell from my work pants pocket.

I watched helplessly as the knife was falling and then struck the tile with a most godawful sound that made me cringe; I just knew that this wasn't gonna be good. The blade had popped half open from the impact and upon inspection had suffered damage to the extent that the blade was no longer centered, actually positioned all the way to the side and rubbing on the right scale. No amount of pivot correction seemed to make a difference.

Sos, I stupidly decided to take it apart, stripped the heads on a couple screws and now have a baggie full of parts.

I was wondrin if there is somebody on this forum that does this type of repair work, or is it even worth it. This knife has served me well for quite a while, cuts haybale wire (string) and farm chores every day, basically gets used a lot, so it would be nice to have it back again. If I can be steered in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your knife hitting the floor and the post damage damage that was caused by the disassembly.

In what country are you residing in the "NorthEast" of at this point? US? UK? Austrailia?

Have you contacted the manufacturer to see if you could buy some replacement parts from them to make the reassembly much easier? Just curious.

Edit:

I'm not online as much as I have been in the past, so it will take me a couple of days to reply to you.

Sorry.

Mud room??

I've disassembled and reassembled quite a few Militaries. If you could send some pics I'll do my best to help. Stripped screws are a pain, but not the end of the world. I doubt seriously the blade or pivot pin could be bent in this type of scenario. Most likely the scales became "tweaked" and careful re alignment and reassembly would take care of it.
You could also try contacting Spyderco. They very well may repair it for a minimal fee. I'm no expert, but I would be glad to help if I can.

Do you think this would help with the blade centering?

Mud rooms are rooms either right outside your door, or right inside your door, they're used to keep snow, mud or whatever else out of your house. Used in several areas that I know of. Some mud rooms have boot dryers and/or stoves to dry your clothes at the end of the day. Just an example.

For stripped screw heads, a fine jewelers file c.an be used to make the head accept a flat head screw driver. If you're in Australia (which I assume with the name Brizbane) then getting it sent into Spyderco might not be possible... or at least getting it back since I think your government considers it an import at that time.

NE USA is a different story, you'll have to get Spyderco to fix your knife that you voided the warranty on, and it'll probably cost you a bit.

Thanks everybody for the advice and offers of help. Vid was helpful, too. I have decided to call Spyderco to get me some new screws and will attempt to get it back together.

Oh yea, our mudroom is the first room you enter coming from the outdoors. Washer dryer and furnace are here and a good place to strip down after we're done cleaning the horse and goat stalls. The outdoor shower (hot and cold water!!) is just outside too.

Oh, and brizbane. I took this name in honor of our deceased Aussie Cattle Dog/German Shepard mix, Brizbane. He was a rescue from the city and turned out to be the greatest farm dog. Thanks again.
