I'm looking to build my own pipe hawk and was looking for a bowl that screws into the poll do any of you know where to get one?

Anybody with a small lathe could make you one if you show them a picture of what you want.

I know that a lot of pipe parts are made from lamp parts

While I've never seen one, as I understand it a "head shop" is where one goes to buy drug paraphernalia, such as that used for smoking marijuana. I don't think any head shops exist where I live. Our sheriff would not think kindly of such a business.

Reference lost upon younger audience.

oh, Glock17JHP, I didn't mean YOU...just 'you' in general, or kids. lol

I know... just having some fun...
And I really DO remember... our local one was called 'The Wooden Indian'... and yes, it actually had a 'life-sized' wooden indian out front, and an area inside with posters, black lights, etc...
Used to go there quite a bit... er, umm, well... I mean I HEARD ABOUT other people going there...

I'm going to the "head shop" in a few days to get my bowl.
I'm just looking for a long drill bit to drill the handle.I'm thinking of drilling the handle then inserting a steel tube into the hole to support the shaft.then drilling a hole through the poll and into the tube. Finally a tap and die set will provide the threads for the bowl to screw in to.
Am I the first to try this?

I have made pipe hawks like that for years. I am a machinist so it was easy to drill & tap the hole in the head for the bowl & to make the bowl!

Hope ya report back on how it works out for you.

I still have my pipe hawk head collecting dust in the shop. :( Not sure if you're wanting another project, but thought I'd point out this thread for your perusal. There's a company offering do-it-yourself pipe hawk kits with decent materials for reasonable cost.

Thanks possum.I remember reading that thread a while back.To be totally honest I forgot all about it.I'll keep it in mind if this project goes south.

I'm going to smoke tobacco with the pipe so I need a bowl that works accordingly.
On the same subject..can you get Cuban pipe tobacco?I love Cuban cigars so I was just wondering.
