The Buck 110 is the best value in knives out there today. Even if you don't buy at Walmart the 39.95 price at other big box stores is still a great deal.

I truly believe that the 110 is just about unbeatable when you consider all factors, of how much of a quality knife you get for the money, warranty and various other factors.

One often overlooked quality of the 110, is that even for what by todays standards is a large folder, the 110 due to it's traditional appearance and high visibility in so many "normal" stores, as opposed to "knife/gun" stores, the 110 is often much more socially accepted than more modern folders.

I'll use one of my own older photos to show what i mean. Most folks in here wouldn't blink at the sight of either knife in this picture, but of the two, in my experience, the 110 is going to draw much less attention from non-knife collectors and "sheeple" than the 889.

I think it's the classic and gentle design of the 110 that helps with it's greater social acceptance. I find that many of the "modern" knife designs (like the 889 pictured) have an aggressive look that might equate to "dangerous" by the masses.

No question that the 110 is a value play; the quality, durability, suitability to most tasks and very competitive price make it hard to beat.

My only 110 gripe - and it's only a personal preference - is the locking mechanism. I much prefer an easier to open/easier to close system.

It's the best deal going without a doubt.

And you're right TLC. I carry an 889 and a 110 regularly and the 889 gets more negative comments from non-knife people than the 110.

Swiss army or Buck 110 or KBar Dozier or Spyderco Native or Opinel or Mora?

I don't know man....all good buys

If I could only have one of the following: SAK, 110, KaBar Dozier, Spydie Native, Opinel, or Mora to be used solely as an EDC general cutting device, it'd be a 110. I don't have my own Opinel or Mora - but really don't want/need one now. Make it a general fixed blade, and it was a 192/119 - until my epiphany - when I recently discovered convex grinds - and the MI UP's knife-makers - like Bark River K&T... oops!
