Is There Any Way To Be Alerted To New Exchange/Sale Postings?

Newbie here to this great forum with a newbie question. Is there any option to set up an 'alert' when a new item is posted on the Exchange subforums?
I've read all the FAQs and I haven't seen this addressed. I belong to other sites where being notified instantly by email when a new item is posted on the sales boards is an option in 'settings'. It's a great way to not miss out on items you're looking for.
Is that possible here?

That would be awful considering there are new posts all the time, you'd get non-stop notifications.
 
No, not all the Exchange subforums at once. You select only the specific subforum you want to watch ('Fixed Blades/Individual'). That might be 1 to 3 email alerts a day. You turn it off or on like eBay alerts.

I know this can be done on other forum websites that use the same software that Bladeforums uses. I'm asking if that feature is enabled here on BladeForums?
 
You can go to specific sub-forums like (Individual)production folders for sale>forum tools>subscribe>instant email notification

But like CJZ said,you'll be getting A LOT of emails from this forum.

By the way, I went to the 'Want To Buy' forum to post a WTB list, but it looks like there have been no posts on that forum for a loooooooong time. Is it closed? Is there another WTB forum that I'm not finding?

Only gold members and up can see the posts in that forum, so to a non paying member it appears empty even though you can create a thread.
 
Another incentive to obtain a paid membership, in addition to supporting our knife community financially.

You cannot see the threads in there because at your current membership level you are not allowed to reply to those threads (registered users cannot sell here). There are tons of active threads though. Membership has its privileges. Also, be sure to read the Exchange rules to avoid any problems. ;)
