I started stripping a ASHBM today... she was leprechaun green with black paper handle scales. I've stripped a bunch of infi, and never seen one with such a finish underneath! She sure looks like satin! The ricasso kinda looks like they do on industrial grade knives. I'm just wondering if other people have run into this...

Any pics? I’ve never heard of a strip = satin.

The only consideration I can think of is if it happened to be Cerakote instead of the standard coatings. You can't hide anything under that stuff because it's so thin. The Batack I've been messing with was C-kote and when I stripped it it was super nice. The other would be if it have FFG. The squigglys seem to be put on in initial machining and final grinding would be one of the final steps~ my theory anyway :D
Got a Flakjack that's coated and I can see gremlins under the coating. I stripped the coating off the grind (stoned if off is more accurate) and the saber grind is perfect but the flats are what's googly (if they are going to be) I've stripped a couple that weren't real bad, seen a lot worse I guess.
I'd end with, from what I've seen, When it comes to Jerry, anything is possible LOL!

My leper ffbm has an almost b.i.g. finish on the blade flat's.

She looks like a full grind! Maybe that's the story???? Good point made!

Let’s see pics !! I’ve read some older post where some have found satin or near satin under a coating. Can’t seem to remember any as recently as the ashbm tho.

The best finish I've ever found under a coating was on my original NMFBM CG:

Back a few years ago some people wear finding satin finishes under the NMFSHs

My Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress was very nice under the coating. It’s been guessed by many members here that the Combat grade flat battle Mistress’s were made from LE blanks.

My Combat Grade NMFSH was perfect under the coating as well. This is one of the original run.
