Rodent 14 ... Yeah that's the one I want!!
I wonder how SR101 holds up at those lengths.
Great. Check out the scrapyard 1311, its made of sr101. The swords also hold up well under lots of punishment.
Looks like Mr. Eric nailed this one while I was outside getting ready for a Memorial Day garage sale (more like helping the wife).*** SR-101 is a lot tougher than people give it credit. The WAKI & RUCKI, Rat Daddy, Rat Mastiff and then the SYKW1311 are all large/long blades ranging from .250 down to .1875". Simply EXCELLENT steel!!!
Good to know.
I knew that some steels that are amazing at small to mid sizes, tend to not hold up so well under the stresses that large blades leverage can exert.
Very nice to know that this is not the case with SR101.
I do have a friend who broke his new 1311, but that can very easily been an inclusion in the metal or something of that nature. If I am not mistaken it was replaced promptly and free of charges too.
I cant wait for next week, I will be fondling Swamp Rat blades at Blade show for sure. Hopefully I wont break the bank to badly ..lol
I wonder how SR101 holds up at those lengths.
I know that some steels are better in shorter blades and not so much in blades out past the 9 inch or so mark.
A 12 or 14 inch blade and or a Kukri sounds fantastic though.
Well the Scrap Yard 1111 seems to be a happening thing so I can't see why there could not easily be a R11... of course *I* won't buy one (as I am almost thankful that I just don't like the R series handles)....so maybe two 1111s for me....![]()
