So I was wondering if Chris Reeve ever made a Custom Sebenza, meaning
a Sebenza made all by hand. Something like what Rick Hinderer does with
the gen 1 and 2 or what Ernie Emerson does with his customs. I know theres
the annuals with the different inlay but is that a custom or still considered
production? I think if he ever did that would be the knife to end all knifes.
I wouldnt mind waiting 10 years for one of those.

Chris did make handmade Sebenzas before the Sebenza was put into production, they are marked with an H next to the CRK logo so people call them H Sebenzas. They are highly sought after and very rarely seen up for sale.

Wow, nice to know. Ive never heard of an 'H' sebenza. Only the 'P'.
I think if he did a very limited run every year of like 20 custom sebenzas
it would cause a riot with people trying to get their hands on one.
Im gonna have to do some research on this H sebenza.

The Sebenza is just about as "perfect" as can be now, so Im wondering what would make it "better" than a production one? :)

It would be nice to select your blade steel, custom or production. Anyways that's my Sebenza pipedream.... A selection of maybe three different steels, one being S90V :D

This is an interesting topic because an esteemed colleague and I were recently having a very similar discussion. It is my opinion that if Mr. Reeve ever made a few "custom" models of his production folders each year, they would sell like hotcakes for very good prices. I know that I'd pay good money for a new "handmade" Sebenza or Umnumzaan, perhaps with some custom options like blade steels or other design tweaks. That would be amazing.

That's essentially what the proto umnumzaan's were.

I would think they would be sold before he even started working on them if he really wanted to go that route. There would be a waiting list years long probably. Think along the same lines as Hinderer. . .

Are you saying that Chris made those or that they have custom features??

Regarding the decorated Umnumzaan models, it's my understanding that the blades were hand ground and finished, as well as hand decorated by Chris. They are also one-off pieces and not duplicated.

The prototype Umnumzaan's I can't say if they were hand ground or not.
