Is there such a thing as a sheath for carrying a 110 unfolded ?

I know this goes against the whole convenience of a folding knife, but I was wondering if there is such a thing as a sheath that will hold the 110 unfolded (not the quick open type but completely unfolded).

I checked on various auction sites but only saw custom sheaths that either hold it folded or semi-folded for quick opening.

I thank you for any input provided.

I've never seen one for a 110, but I think it would be fairly easy to make. A simple pouch sheath would probably work best. Just need to find a sheathmaker to whip one out.

I just checked with a flap type 102 sheath.
it fits in but not all the way due to the longer handle on the 110.
I wonder if it would fit in a snoopy 102 sheath, or either type of 105 sheath........

Thanks for the tips all. I just tried it in a 113 sheath, it also fits but a lot of the handle sticks out. I'll keep looking.

I wonder if a standard pouch sheath like this one from Knives Ship Free would work. You might have to wet form it, but that would be easy enough.

Great, that site looks like they will have something that fits. I'm going to look around the site and see what's happening. I'll be sure to post results of course !

Thanks again.

***************FOLLOW UP TO MY ORIGINAL POST************************

Didn;t want to start another thread on the same subject, so I'm replying to the original thread I started.

So I finally got around to asking my favorite sheath maker (Charlie Cline) and received a sheath that holds an unfolded 110 perfectly.
Fits like a glove with no wiggle or slipping out.
I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and love it.

Here are some pictures of it, and 1 along side a 113 for comparison.

Thanks

That looks great, Mitch! I have often wondered if you ever followed through with your idea. It actually makes a lot of sense for when the knife is in continuous use. Ironically, a few weeks ago, I purchased my first Charlie Cline sheath for my 110. I'm really impressed with his workmanship and quality. How long was the turn-a-round time?

There are other style sheaths I've seen on here that hold a 110 partially opened. Then when drawn it opens and locks. A quick draw sheath. DM

why wouldn't you just carry a fixed blade? 110 is a folding knife

Not always. Decaf Dave has a fixed 110 and he is not the only one. But I don't know what kind of sheath he has for this knife. Mitch, it would be a good way to ask him.

I think the open carry sheath might be good in the woods, but for EDC the leather sheath that comes with the 110 makes for a much more practical, compact, civilian friendly package.

I wanted it for when I fish and boat so I wouldn't need to open it.

Why carry a 110 open ? Why not...it's my favorite knife !

TAH- turnaround was less than a week. I private messaged him on the auction site and told him what I was looking for. My drop point 110 also fits perfectly.

This makes perfect sense to me now. Sometimes you don't have two hands available. This is one option I had not considered. Very interesting thread.

Exactly. The 2 gents I know who wear these quick draw sheaths do so while working horses, breaking colts for ranch work or roping horses. While doing so, a young horse can shook at the wrong time with a rope tangles around his leg and you. So, you need to be a able to cut it quick using one hand. DM

I'd probably look into one of the older leather sheaths that came with the model 102. Not the current one, but the older ones that had a full flap covering the handle. It's about the same length as a 110 and will probably fit it securely.

Well it's a sweet sheath and a great idea, that would really work when skinning and feild dressing big game as you could sheath it and not have to worry about folding it first,or laying it down on the ground.good idea!
