I used to run a 3X60 lapidary belt grinder years ago. It was great for grinding down things that make steel look soft. Heat was NOT a problem. The thing was a grinding fool, but made a huge mess. You wear a rubber apron, a face shield, and clothes you don't mind getting wet an covered in sludge.I have sprayers for spraying coolant on lapidary wheels and grinders, but There is no way to use them on a knife system without creating serious problems with rust and the sludge. You would have to use waterproof belts,of course.
Use a bucket of water, it is easier and time tested.
