Is there such a thing as Spyderco SPA TREATMENT?

I have this Endura from 2010 that has been carried and used more than any knife I have ever owned.

The decade + of use is starting to show. ;) Works fine, stays sharp and other than the obvious cosmetics the only thing really that needs attention is that the holes for the clip have stripped. I've got one screw holding but it is not enough for me to carry it with the peace of mind that I will not loose it.

I understand Spyderco's warranty policy and that if I send in the knife I will need to attach the warranty/repair info from their web site - BUT - other than the clip being ressecured it doesn't need repair.

• Will Spyderco spruce it up for me - clean the scales, sharpen the blade and otherwise give it a bit of TLC?

• OR is sending it back to Spyderco strictly for repair?

I'm happy to spend some $$s on this old one but would like more than a tight clip if I'm sending it away. Am I asking for too much?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I think they will sharpen the blade and that is all. I prefer to do that myself. The one time I sent in a knife for a stripped screw I specifically noted, do not sharpen. I did not want them grinding away on it.

Unless something has changed, they will drill out and replace the screws for $20. There really isn't a refurbish/spa treatment that I know of though.

OK - I guess they won't do anything other than a very specific task. I can do that so not worth shipping away. Thanks for the replies.

Or even simpler if it was tip up just switch to tip down and learn to carry it that way

Thanks but I'd rather carry no clip if that's the case. Though it would be an easy solution. There was also the question about renewing it cosmetically. Guess that won't happen either. :(

Hello friend, I had a similar experience. The team over there is very nice and accommodating, just let them know specifically what you are looking to do.

I emailed them about it first, then printed the email and attached it to the warranty form and put them in the box as notes.

Here is the thread, good luck!

Edit: it never hurts to ask!

The cost to "restore" that knife would be more than the knife is worth. You've been using the knife for over a decade, so you've got your money's worth out of it. But if you're willing to put in some effort, you could surely make the knife spiffy again.

The screws thread into the liner, right? Someone else mentioned drilling and tapping for oversize screws. That would be the easiest solution. A more elegant solution would be to install threaded inserts into the liner. That's a little harder to do, but possible with nothing more than a few hand tools and a drill press.

Give the scales a good scrubbing to get all the scrounge off, and then maybe dye them to give them some pizzaz. Polishing the blade a no brainer. Now that I'm typing it out, I'll bet you could bring the knife to almost new condition.

Thanks. Yes, I do know all this ^ and am capable - just looking to not have another project. ;)
If I could buy as new version I would do that.
