A lot of torches, (flashlights for you Esav :) ), have CR123 batteries which, I believe, are not rechargeable. I prefer to use rechargeable batteries anywhere I can.

Is there a rechargeable battery that can substitute for the CR123 in those devices that use them?

try batteryjunction.com

I think they have rechargeable 123s, lithium ion. I don't go through them often enough to justify the cost, and since I only have one item that uses them, I just keep a couple sets of spares. But the investment might make sense if you burn through them quick enough.

Thanks, I'll have a look there.

Absolutely. They are logically known as RCR-123 batteries. Here's a link to a great thread that should be called 'Flashlight Battery 101'. The second post in the thread shows which types of batteries are compatible with which lights. There can be both physical size and voltage differences to consider.

Ummm... don't think the link is there, sounds good though.

I have LED lights that use CR123A batts, and use them for hours after my Surefire lights consider them depleted. It might be worth keeping an Inova X5 around as an emergency backup that you can use to use up old 123s. The X5 is a good light for around the house or car in itself.

"Torches" are chunks of wood, with or without accelerants, that the village rabble use to light up the night when they chase down honest, hard-working lycanthropes or other monsters. :grumpy:

I have an X1 which is a great little light which I generally EDC. One of the reasons I like it is because I can drop an AA in there and I always keep some on charge at home and, if I'm away, you can pick one up anywhere.

rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble :D

make sure you check the voltages of the rechargeable RCR123's......you need to make sure your flashlight can handle the voltages.....its a good idea to let freshly charged batteries "rest' for several hours after charging before firing up the light, this prevents the dreaded "POOF or light burnout.

The rabble in my village are too busy drinking beer in the pub.

With rabble like that, why would a hard-working, self-respecting monster bother?
Anyway, you're all so overrun with rabbits even the rabble don't stand a chance.
