I can't help but wonder this lately, after seeing these new blades.....:)

.187" Taliwhacker LE
.187" Ratweiller CG
.150" Rodent 3
.166" Rodent Trail
.166" Vex
.090" Busse Elmax Steak Knife
.160" Leaner Meaner Street
.160" Active Duty

I'm sure there are more new releases that I am missing, but I am starting to see a trend here and I like it!......

Thin is in for me, cuts so much better. Even hard use knives dont need to be thicker than .187, i prefer 1/8 th or thinner most of the time.

Bruddah, I HIGHLY doubt the new Ratweiler will be .187"...but then again I could be wrong! If it is made to traditional standards, .25" should be the thickness. Has anyone heard different for sure?!

I'm hoping for 1/4 inch as well. Maybe .265? That knife needs the Ooomph!

Thin is in because of all the Bushcrafter's. Though they think 3/16's is too obtuse.

At 1/4 inch you will have an emergency anchor! :D
3/16 is plenty tough, and unless you try to pry doors off or use it as a climbing aid 3/16 would do just fine.

I'm with you on that! Speaking of thin, have you made any progress with the Scrapivore scale prototyping yet?

I updated my thread on the matter, i dont want to hijack the OP's thread. Thanks for the interest!

The new one was listed with these specs when i ordered, id like .25" but i don't see 3/16ths having any problems.

Blade Length: 7 1/2"

Blade Width: 1 3/4"

Blade Thickness: 3/16"

Overall Length: 13 1/4"

Grind: Saber

Steel: SR101 58-60Rc

Still too thick for me. Never understood why they make an awesome steel with an awesome heat treat just to make it with the same obtuse geometry other companies run 1095 at giving the knives the same lackluster performance.

Don't forget about all of the Scrapmax variants that Dan has released over the past year or so. All 0.090!!! :D
