Hello Folks,

I was looking over the price sheeth of talonite, and I noticed they have a 1/16 inch or 1,59 mm thick kind too.
Now since I am looking to make some small kitchenknives from it (butchers knife and some paring knives), is this too thin?
I think 1/8 th is too thick if you wanna make fine slices of say an onion.

I am not looking for extremely heavy workknives, they just must be able to slice up a potatoe and an apple and do that for a long time.

If it were 5160 or 52100, I would go for it, since these steels bend a lot before they brake, especially if hardened on the low side to be easy sharpable.

Soooo... too thin? or not?

Greetz, Bart.

Hey Bart, the 1/16th thick Talonite works just fine for what you are talking about. The biggest problem with the 1/16th thick stock is sometimes it comes warped, but it is fairly easily straightened as long as it isnt corkscrewed.
