What do you guys think of the leatherman squirt s4 for my sister as a Christmas gift? I looked at the squirt because it is the only tool from the leatherman line that was useful to her. However do you guys know of any other tools that may appeal to her that’s under $50 Canadian?

I have the squirt p4 with the pliers and love it, small and tough. Have a look at the leatherman micra also which here in the u.k is about half the price. if you want something smaller have a look at the Victorionox Classic which is something i have carried for years but i would go for either the squirt or micra because of the strength of the scissors.
good luck
Rob

I would definately get her the squirt over the micra. A little smaller, and better overall. I bet the scissors would be really handy for her. I love the squirt, and dont know what I would do without it. Go for it:thumbup: :)

I gave the honey a P4 (or is it P2?) with the scissors and she carries it everywhere. Her sister has the version with pliers and she carries it everywhere, too. Definitely a good present for your sister.

Altho between them I prefer the Micra because the tools are longer and work a little better, the Squirt S4 may be the better choice for a woman. My wife finds most Leatherman products to be too angular or sharp-edged to the touch. She dislikes carrying or using them, altho she concedes they do the job well enough. OTOH, she likes and uses her SAK quite often, especially the scissors. The Squirt scissors works just as well in a smaller, pocket/hand friendly package and the other implements access more easily than the Micra, altogether an elegant alternative and more useful than the SAK Classic.

Is the blade longer on the micra?

The blades are the same length, but the Micra screwdrivers are much longer. Also, while both bottle openers are marginal, an acceptable tradeoff for size, the Micra's is a bit more useable than the diabolical Squirt lifter, which takes a fine and patient hand to pry off a cap. I tried an S4, liked the fit and finish, but swapped it at the store for a P4 (couldn't resist a Squirt, after all ;) ). For a scissors tool, I still prefer the Micra, and half the price at that.

Ok so now I’m looking for a better multi toll I’m thinking victorinox Swisslite but with a can opener any suggestions?

LOL got her the multi tool and got a real look at it and guess what I discovered, the blade only has one edge!

If by this you mean it has a chisel edge, that shouldn't be an issue. Many fine knives of all sizes come with them, and they cut very well. For the kind of use a mini blade gets, IMHO it does the job.

yes it is a chisel but i can't even cut by self with it....my be i should back an edge other edge on it?!

It probably just needs a few licks from a steel or fine diamond hone. The knife blade on my wife's Micra is also chisel ground, but was very sharp out of the box. =)
