Hi everyone I have not posted much to this area but I hope I am welcome.I was shopping with a buddy at a local pawn shop and I saw this in on display and in case it was what I thought it was I couldn`t leave it ,so I plopped down a few bucks and here we are.
If anyone can tell me a model or anything that would be great. It has been serrated:( by the person(?) who owned it before selling it .thanks for looking.

Thanks Merc thats kind of what I was thinking it has no busse signatures but it is for sure all of 3/16 thick and it is comfortable .It came with an old Busse tri-fold with the old Busse combat basics in it .The sheath that came with it is heavy kydex with pretty good fit a little loose,I cut off the para cord wrap(it was kinda gross).

and a totally misplaced grind line,,,,,,,,,,,, thebrains blade and the apprentice link blades are different,,,,,,,, musta been the apprentice they laid off

If you lay the blade on the pic of the apprentice blades the are a perfect match (if you take into account the shrinking of the edge from sharpening)

I have a couple of Busse apprentice blades... yours looks identical to mine except the serrations done by the previous owner. If it's a Busse apprentice blade, It's unlikely that it's made out of INFI... probably made out of 5160 steel.

Here's a link about the Busse drop point apprentice blades... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2823933#post2823933

Hope this info helps.

.

I stand corrected. It does appear to be a Busse apprentice knife.

If it is a Busse apprentice anyone have any idea what it might be worth even with the abuse(bad serrations) put upon it by owners past? Just wondering I don`t think I would sell it I kinda like it;)

Since the apprentice blades started out unsharpened and thebrain's blade has been sharpened/modified pretty heavily, the grinds are going to look different.

Other than the heavy sharpening, the addition of the serrations and jimping, the blades look almost identical to me...

thebrain,

If your knife is indeed a Busse apprentice blade, I dont know what the current value is but you might want to check the exchange, I think they have generally sold for less than $100 in the past. I will tell you that the heat treat is awesome on mine, I put an edge on one and it has held up extremely well under hard use.

Good luck!

If you put a really nice turks head knot or something equally appealing on the handle (including a nicely done set of handle scales), you could get anywhere from 45$-150$. It depends on how nice you can make it, how much your willing to put it up for (And how long you'll let it sit at that price), and the market.

as it is, I'd expect it to go for between 35-60$. as far as price is concerned looking at a maker-less hardened 5160 necker without a handle wrap or scales. price accordingly :)

some nice scales and lanyard would be awsome, like some blaze orange or burgundy canvas micarta?hmm how much do you want for it?

I paid $25 out the door ,not too bad. I kinda wanted a heavy duty edc fixed blade but I am not sure if I can do this knife justice in the handle dept. Yeah some orange G10 and a new sheath would be nice.

2ton epoxy, handle material, some bolts, hacksaw, and a file. maybe some sand paper. lindseed oil if it's wood.

If it's just a user it's even better because it doesn't have to look good, it just has to be comfortable and strong.

Thanks for the info everyone .I will try to decide what to do with it I just might keep it for a few years and see if I get the time and talent to put it right.Unless I get an offer I can`t refuse .You all know how that goes .
