Is this a common problem with SOG's?

Hello all,

I got my SOG Gov-Tac not very long ago and havn't had time to use it yet- but the handle is loose.
I can twist it approx 10 degress clockwise and back. this normally wouldn't be a huge problem with other knives as i could just tighten the handle- but the screw in the pommel is very strange:the screw it self is round and resembles a standard 'slot' screw, the centre of the screw however has another circle inside it, the pic won't seem to work (if anyone else has a pic of the handle screw please flee to post) but it resembles -O-, I don't have a driver to use with this type of screw, and was wondering if other SOG owners have had this same problem or could help me improvise something that could tighten it?
Thanks alot guys

I hope this helps u. I have a few SOG knives and I understand what u are describing in reguards to the screw shape. -0- I think it is a lock fastener that sits on top of washers/ring grommets. Thats what I think u are dealing with.

I've got a SOG Tech Bowie and never had that problem...I do think you need a special tool for that!!!

Send it back , SOG should sort it for you . I would ask them if they check
them b4 they send them out or was the QC department sleeping ?

It's some type of torx screw, for which you'll need a special bit. I think manu's like to put those on just so you can't mess with it. You can buy wierd bits like that for a cordless screwdriver; take your knife to the hardware store and see if you can find one that matches.

I hate those damn things... I used to have a dodge Daytona with screwy lug-nuts like that as an anti-theft measure... guess who didn't get the lug wrench with the car when he bought it used? :(

Those are after-market lock lug nuts. They dont come from the factory. You have to have a special "key" that fits in the lug wrench to take them off so a thief dont steal your wheels.

Ford puts these on the nut that you use to raise/lower the spare on their full size trucks. I have seen many who bought a used truck not get the special lug adapter. Steven

The wheels were stock from the factory. I did eventually find the proper lug wrench for it. No extra key was required.
