Was at Princess Auto today and saw this on sale , since I don't have an anvil over 10 lbs and want to try some forging once the snow melts and I finish building a new forge I bought it. It's 75 lbs and $80 , I also saw they have their brand metal cutting Porta-Band on sale for the same price for any beginners using a hacksaw might help. Princess Auto is = to Harbor Freight, any thoughts on it ?

The portaband is down to $63

Best price I've ever seen

Kinda ticks me off though, I just bought one at the full price not too long ago.
I subscribe to the flyer and didn't see it there...

I thought it looked like they weren't going to carry it after they sold out, but they went from yellow to blue- so there's at least 2 shipments.

The anvil?
There is probably better out there

I tested the rebound on the Princess Auto anvil and it was less than the chunk of railroad track I had at the time and only a couple of pounds heavier so I passed on it. The portable band saw they offer works well and blades are reasonably cheap, just buy the bi metal ones and not the cheaper ones. I have been using mine for over a year now. I am on my 4th replacement blade now, and the saw is making some noises, but I got my through a friend that worked for P Auto so it was a lot cheaper for me. The time and arm power I save is worth it even if I paid full price.

I find the $15 per blade here is pretty high.

I've found this place

$5 per blade or less, I'm going to give them a try next time.

has anyone tried them before?

maybe the noise needs some grease ?

I'm impressed at how well it cuts.
Beats most any other saws I've tried.
