This 532 came in today from C&C... not marked to that effect on the box, but the quality of the finishing is horrible, waves and lows spots in the scales and bolsters, pins in the bolsters are proud.

And there's this little marking on the scale... a B??

I'm returning it for a refund, as a newbie I'm curious whether or not that is a marking that Buck would put on a blem knife.

No that is not a Blem marking by Buck. It's poor QC IMHO, Ask the dealer to replace it with one they open and inspect before shipping it to you!

I've never seen that mark..or a Buck with the handle damage it has..

shame too as that's a real nice diamondwood shade of blue/indigo.

Anymore, I just about always ask the dealer if they’ll check my order over before shipping. Things like what happened here seem to be occurring more often sadly.

I got my return ship label email from Copper & Clad, so it's going back Monday. I was really disappointed and quite shocked how a piece of junk like that made it out of the Buck factory.

C&C showed it being out of stock after I ordered it, but now they show them with 84 in stock. I just may reorder, the knife with the indigo diamond wood and polished bolsters is really quite a looker.

I dont know if its happening more now than before. I think it just happens. Now that we can share pics so easily it seems like it happens more.

You could be correct, with the ability now to share posts and photos around the world. :)

I’d say Buck does a pretty good job with their QC, and they, along with dealers, will make it right. It’s just frustrating to get your new toy and it has issues. I’ve been mostly lucky really, only having very few knives over the years arrive not right. More often, it’s usually my fault for not liking a particular model knife when I get it. But it’s easy to post them for sale now too. Lol.

I don’t understand. Knives marked as blems with nothing wrong with them. Then knives like this that never should have left the factory as first quality.

Makes no sense, but Buck is better than most.

It looks like an 8 to me. I wonder if it is a color matching mark or something, and was meant to be on the liner side of the slab?

Manufacturing errors do happen, and they make an interesting sideline for lot of collectors...
