I live in Serbia and I just bought a Buck 102 woodsman, knife comes sharp as a razor and with warranty. But I'm worried, because drain hole is a slightly croked, and under the bolster has a black dot ( probably during the polishing). I'm sorry for my bad english, and i hope that someone, can help me, to find out if is my knife fake or not.

Sharpblade,

It is possible to buy knives that have a factory blemish, and they are sold on the internet. Unfortunately, most internet sellers don't advertise they are selling knives with a problem.

The knife is legit but like Bertl I wonder if it is a blem. Not sure what you mean by crooked drain hole? The pictures are poor so can't see anything meaningful. Has the label been altered in the upper right corner. The Word WOODSMAN seems to be blocked out. That is where a blem marking might have been.

Legitimate factory blems are COSMETIC only and will serve perfectly well. Functional or structural defects are never sold.

No, drain hole on a sheath.

Thanks Bert, for your replay but I'm worried that my knife is a copy, and I hope that is just a factory blemish.

Sharpblade666,

The box has a date of 2013, but I can't see the stamp on the blade well enough to read a date code. Is there one, and if so what is it? My personal thought is that if I were going to counterfeit a knife I would choose something more expensive than a 102.

The blade has the same date code as box.

You would lose that bet, on 102 there are no blood grooves, you mixed it with 119. I'm trying to say that the drain hole on a sheath is closed.

Looks like you got an authentic Buck blem. It's a great little knife.

Did you get a good enough deal on it? If it's just a tiny black mark and an imperfect drain hole on the sheath I wouldn't be concerned.

I wouldn't buy from that seller again, though. He should have told you it's a blem.

I paid him 43$ and it's a great knife, but i don't know, what is the price in America. Thanks for the advice and for answering, I really appreciate it.

I'd call that a good price in America or anywhere.

It even seems to reflect the fact that it's a blem because the price is very low for a new 102.

Well done and enjoy it for many, many years.
