Is This a Fake CRK

Recently bought a Classic Small Sebenza with D00. That should be a year 2000 issue with the BG42 blade.
Had it disassembled for cleaning and noticed the blade tang had a different shape compared to my other classic 2008 model.
Plus the thumb stud whilst having similar grooves and shape, felt a bit sharp on the thumb.
Is this a fake?

Looks legit to me. CRK makes subtle changes over the years within the same model in a means to improve and perfect the design. The "C" on the blade stood for Classic. I do know they had some Classics with BG-42 blades, though they were at the very beginning. I am not sure if the Classics marked with a "C" were the BG42 ones or not....? For that, someone like HAZE may know as he has been around CRK longer than I have.........The thumbstud has also changed slightly over the years as well.

Great photos. I'm no expert, but looks legit. Probably a variation. If it is a fake, it is an incredibly good one.

Thanks for chiming in guys.

It was from the very thread started by nyefmaker that I learned that the BG42 ceased around the 2001. The S30V commenced from 2002 onwards.

I was a little concerned when I saw the variations in the tang. However both sides of the frames are identical in size and all the holes lined up real good.

Also the frame markings were in different locations of the frame.

Perhaps a CRK spa is in order.

Pretty sure it is legit I have a 2002 small regular and it has that same blade tang shape but my newer 21s have the shape as your classic 08.

That knife is not fake, it is a real CRK. BG-42 is always good, too. :)

That is nice to know that it is the real McCoy. And it was especially so that the information is coming from some CRK gurus on this forum. Thank you.

Absolutely legit, nobody making a fake would like to put a surface heating treatment close to the ceramic ball.
Plus the scales are marked with code.
It's good for me!

Do they even make fake classics? I've seen fake everything else, even regulars, but no classics... The classic engraving seems harder to match than the Idaho made too.

i haven't seen a fake with an inlaid/cutout clip attachment or the seagull shape on the lockbar cutout.
are they faking those now?

It would appear that both the classic I have is the start and the end year of the Classic series.
