A friend of mine in Australia, has heard me talk about my Spydercos so much she decided to buy one and went in a shop bought this,
says it's only marked with the logo (that's showing) and it cost 35.00 (which is cheap for there) I believe it's a knock-off,
probably from China. I don't own any of the Bryd line so I can't really say. (but I think even those have more markings than this)
Phone picture so it's not the best...

An absolute FAKE!

1) Byrds don't say "Spyderco" on 'em. 2) Byrds use a comet shaped opening hole. 3) Spyderco uses only a round hole.

Regards,
3G

I have a knife form the byrd line and in agreement with previous replys, it does not say spyderco and it DOES have a "comet" shaped hole. thats a fake.

Oh and i am in Australia and yes, $35 is cheap (sometimes prices get out of hand, local knife shop was selling the CRKT rollock for $100!!, hence why i buy online)

I just figure a lot of knock-offs have been reported coming out of China. Don't really know of anyplace else that does that, personally. After all, the logo on the blade is trademarked and most other countries aren't able to use them without legal repercussions. (Plus not having any markings as to where it was made)

Try 150 bucks for a Delica 4 in a downtown Toronto shop...ROBBERY I got mine for under 50 bucks on Ebay.

PS thats a really UGLY fake.

That's a pretty damn funny fake. Without the round hole, it's like spelling out F O R D inside a bowtie emblem. Or making a SAK fake without some kind of cross logo.

Tell your friend to contact JDee of Rustic Forge. She'll get top brand GENUINE knives at the best possible prices from one of the most honest dealers around.

I'll be sure to let her know. She has a G-10 Bryd, Cara Cara, but it's too big for her work (she's a line leader at a meat packing plant, in Vic) and she's wanting a Native. If she can get it cheaper than what she's found so far.

Yep it's fake, ask your friend to try return it to the shop, they sold her a fake rip off POS.

You should post this on the Spyderco forum so Sal can have a look ,too

The moderator there has already noted this thread and PMed me and I have forwarded her message to my friend in AU. To Spyderco for being on top of things! As well as their concern, about having unsuspecting customers taken advantage of.

I just threw up a little in my mouth, looking at that fugly fake:barf:
