Steal the info from newgraham. :D

I bought one long time ago with a pretty cheap price from some other website, it got dull and I try to sharp it, and it felt softer than my 440 steel knife. Of course, it's made by 440C, so I believe I bought a fake (hope so)

Now I know the newgraham, and I believe they don't sell fakes. So I wonder about the true facts about the knife, is it really 440C and will it shake after opened? I know cheap knives have this shake feeling after opened.

So thank you very much for your help:)

PS: I'm too cheap to buy a emerson or 5.11, waiting for the boker edition.:D

Sometimes you get more than you pay for. I doubt this will be one of those times. My experiences with S&W has been disappointing at best. I suggest you save your money for a real knife.

Chances are that it is Chinese 440C, which is not 440C. It is actually 9Cr18MoV, which is a pretty good steel.

It can be as good as 440C. It can also be as good as 440A.

razorsharp, who works for Sandvik says that the Chinese have much wider tolerance bands on their compositions. So what you get can vary, even if the heat treat does not.
