Is this a good price?

You're probably not going to beat $199 for a new one. If I hadn't bought so many other Beckers in the past two weeks, I'd pick it up at that price.

I agree. However, S30V would make for a kick-ass general camp knife as long as you had something else in mind for chopping duties.

It really does depend on what you have in mind for the Extreme. The 7.5 inch blade is really a middling length, and while it *can* work as a chopper, S30V is probably not your best bet for that application. This fact, along with price, is likely why so many of the BK-77's remain on the market.

If it's the *only* knife you're taking afield, I think Rat's right and that you'd be better off with a carbon BK-7.
 
I am trying to come up with the extra cash. I want to jump on it but don't have all the money just right now. Maybe he will lower the price some more. He lowered it over a $100 so far.
