Well I have just recently became interested in knives through another forum I go to online(PBNation.com incase anyone goes there to). And I started looking at knives. And I saw the Kershaw Leek. And it grabbed my attention. It had everything I wanted on it. And it looked the perfect size, not huge, but not small.
So is this Kershaw Leek:
Kershaw Leek from EKnifeWorks.com

a good buy? And I am really interested in the framelock instead of the linear lock. Anyone know how good the framelock is? And also is EknifeWorks a good place to buy from?

Thanks...

The Leek is one of Kershaw's flagship models. It's a very popular folder because of the Speedsafe automatic opening system, slim profile, and friendly size. You won't be disappointed.

Framelocks are also pretty highly regarded around here as strong and reliable. As long as you don't plan on really abusing the hell out of your knives, it should hold up fine.

To answer your last question, Eknifeworks is also very popular with the members here. Fast shipping and good prices

Try using the search function for the Leek, you'll find lots of threads on it.

that seems like a good price. not to much more than what your would find at the local wal-mart. go for it

just remember, it only has the 13c26 steel if it has that July 07 birthday printed on the blade. otherwise its 440a. either way, its a great knife

oh and WELCOME to BF!

The Leek is an excellent knife. I own many different models....both framelock and linear lock. I haven't had either of the 2 locks fail on me yet. And yes, It's a great buy. Use the hell out of it. And as Ludwig said, just don't abuse it. But that goes with any knife. So treat yourself to one and I promise you want regret it. Awesome little knife!! If you decide to get one, come back and let us know what you think of it.

On sale for 35.99, with the brand new Sandvik blade?

I say go for it!

I have another question. I have been hearing things about different blade metal? I am new to knives so which is the best? And can you buy Kershaw replacement blades with better metal quality?

Kershaw doesn't do blade upgrades. So with that in mind just choose what you think is right for you. There really isn't a " best " metal. It just depends on your personal taste and what you intend to use it for. If you want the best edge retention go with the ZDP Leek. But keep in mind with such a hard metal ease of sharpening isn't easy. If you want ease of sharpening and a steel that will take a really really scary edge go with the Sandvik. Probably the most popular all around steel on the Leek is S30V. It holds a great edge and isn't the most difficult steel to put an edge on. Also keep in mind ZDP isn't the best when it comes to rust resistance. I have all 3 and they all have there pluses and minuses. What ever steel you decide to go with, you're still going to end up with one great knife.
