I have seen many of these knives but never with a 92 stamped in the blade. The original owner said he got it in Switzerland. Please help a brother out.
If the blade has the Wenger stamp on it, I think this is a genuine Wenger Standard Issue knife. One of the pocket knives which were issued to the Swiss soldiers, the other were the alox Victorinox Soldier models. In 2009 the Swiss army switched to a new type of pocket knife and I suspect the Wenger SI and alox Victorinox Soldier will become collectible. Besides being collectible, they're great pocket knives.
