I'm 3 years into my PhD work to become a Psychologist, but being on blade forums for the last few years is causing me some serious emotional issues.

I keep having this urge to become quit psychology and find a knife maker to go to work for. Reading all these incredible stories about knife makers... it's making me crazy

I wonder if Jerry is hiring

Sigh... i am pretty sure i need some Prozac

Jerry is hiring, but he only pays infi dust and bad beer. The prozac is probably the way to go.

You are going to be a Psychologist and it's making you crazy?

You'd be surprised at how many psychologists have psychological disorders :P

I think i'm just itching to have a job where i get to really use my hands... i was very happy as a kid (15-19) working in my grandfathers fabrication shop, and part of me misses it

infi dust and bad beer.... sounds like a country song

Whichever way you go ... I would finish your Phd and become qualified ... it always makes sense to have something to fall back on ...

I took up Law as a back up to wanting to join the Army ... it paid off for me ... up to a point ... my problem is that I hate being behind a desk ...

Merge both paths into one. Become a psychologist and then specialize on the grievous disorder that makes all of us continually buy knives, become obsessed with using, collecting and making them. That way you will have each foot on a path to madness. ;)

Just about everyone in the entire world qualifies for something in the DSM IV. Relax. Just embrace the eventuality that you will some day be known as the the psychologist with all the cool knives on his wall, talking about 'forging' relationships, a sharp wit, and flexible spine.

Become a shrink and spend your extra money on knife making gear and fool around with it part time. Becoming a full time maker is difficult and from what I hear, requires great sacrifice of money. It's a love more than a job. :)

LOL!! you guys know how to improve a boring day

thanks folks. I suppose i probably won't drop out of school

we mix a little of the Black plastic gold in there and I think we will have super powers or something

Just when i think this thread has run it's course, Jerry chimes in and takes it to a whole new level of awesome

Okay boss, once i get my degree, i'll head that way with a bag of prozac and we'll see if you can still make knives with a good dose of serotonin reuptake inhibitor floating around in your alcohol stream

Medical condition........yeah....lot like your favorite STD..

First You hear about it, then spend time researching it and people warn you of it, and like an idiot, you don't heed the warnings and before you know it you're having fun catching it AND possibly spreading it....then spend the rest of your time paying for it. For many, it is a life long condition too:eek::eek::eek::eek:

when i first joined, and asked about a becker that i was interested in, i was told to run and never look back

I didn't believe them.

Now i get twitchy when i haven't bought a new knife in a week

and all the hair is falling out on my arms (usually caused by one of the knives i DID order)

Chris- This is a warning... keep it in check or you can end up broke, divorced and nuts or any which one or all!!
I speak from experience. :)

I kept reading about Busse patches here and finally got one. Tried to apply it like a nicotine patch but it kept falling off my arm. I finally duct-taped it on and wore it for weeks, but the INFI craving never went away.:grumpy:
