Is this a problem

I got a wetterlings 111 expedition hatchet today for Christmas. I noticed the edge is crooked and doesn't line up with the center line of the handle? Is this a big deal? I can't speak to the performance since I haven't used it yet, just trying to decide if I need to exchange it before using it. It almost seems as though the eye is not straight through the head.

If it was only a little I'd say you'd not notice much of an issue in use, but that looks pretty badly twisted, and it's a problem of the bit/eye alignment rather than a straight head hafted crooked. I'd send it back.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna get it exchanged solely because I feel that for what it's worth it should be close to perfect

Yeah I would have done the same thing. It's a $100 hatchet so it should be straight, for a $20 axe it might had been acceptable but not for a wetterlings.

Something ain't right with that hatchet. Are you sure it is a Wetterlings?
