Good morning, I'm not really familiar with the Fallkniven line and picked up this A1. I neglected to do my usual research before buying a knife I'm not not familiar with. Looking online now and i see that the sheath is not the typical looking one. I'm about to put some Flitz on it to see if i can see the laminate line. It's a catch and release for me and is currently listed and I definitely do not want to sell a fake!
Anyone kind enough to chime in please would be greatly appreciated. :)
Thank you to the kind member who reached to to inform me of this! 👍😊

Not much help but the sheath seems to check out but the way the logo is wearing seems a little odd.

I believe it to be legit. When I was looking to buy one, I did some research on how to "see" a fake, and from what I could gather, the line you have shown in the blade, where the different layers are joined, is something the fakes can't replicate.

Yeah, the logo does seem odd, but I've never seen one from the previous generation that used the sheath pictured here. If that line I highlighted is etched or engraved, versus a blend of the metal layers, then it would be fake, here's what their site says to look for when detecting a fake:

And a list from the interwebs:

  • Blade Grind: Real A1s have a convex grind (like an axe edge), while fakes usually have a standard flat grind.
  • Lamination Line: Genuine Fallkniven knives use laminated steel (like VG10 core between stainless steel layers); look for a distinct line near the edge. Fakes often lack this or try to etch a fake line.
  • Etchings/Markings: Authentic markings are crisp, delicate, and even. Fakes have deep, messy, or "Sharpie-like" etchings, often with incorrect font or placement.
  • Steel Quality: Fakes use poor-quality stainless steel, leading to bad edge retention and toughness compared to real Fallkniven steel.
  • Handle & Hardware: Fakes might have loose hardware, poor finish on the pommel, easily scratched handle material, or slightly off-sized/shaped handles.
  • Performance: Fakes feel lighter, have bad balance, and chop poorly; real ones perform like quality tools.

FWIW, I used the app they mention to ensure that the ones I purchased were legit, while a clunky experience, it gave me piece of mind. Not sure if you got the box with this knife ironwagon ironwagon ?

Just curious if you could see the layers looking down at the spine🤔?????
Lamination lines have been fudged before..........Either way!! Happy the previous owner is a stand up fella..👌

I don't recall seeing the layers on the spine. Unfortunately it's packed up and ready to ship back and this is the only pic I had of the spine. Can you see the layers looking down the spine on an A1?

I have an A1 (a newer one than yours) and I cannot see the lamination lines on the spine of the knife, yet it is very apparent on the side of the blade.

Edit: and I'm certain that mine is a genuine Fällkniven, not a fake

Thank you for sharing that! It'll be good to know for any future Fallknivens.
Is this the same for the S1 and F1 as well to have the laminate lines?

I don't have the S1 or F1, but do have the NL5, in COS, and can also clearly see the layer marks on both spine and edge. Just watch that its not etched or engraved, the layers are barely noticeable if you drag your fingernail across them, near the sharpened edge.
